Indium hydroxide - Introduction
Indium(III) hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula In(OH)3. It is a white solid, almost insoluble in water at room temperature. It can be made by reacting indium metal with sodium hydroxide (or ammonium hydroxide). The morphology and structure of Indium(III) hydroxide can be controlled by adjusting the reaction conditions during the preparation process.
Indium(III) hydroxide has a number of important uses in the chemical industry. First, it can be used as a precursor of semiconductor materials for the preparation of semiconductor nanomaterials and thin films. Secondly, it can also be used in water treatment, catalysts, coatings and ceramics. In addition, Indium(III) hydroxide is also used in the preparation of other compounds of Indium.
Although Indium(III) hydroxide is relatively stable under ordinary conditions, it will be decomposed under strong acid or strong alkali conditions. Therefore, safety measures, such as wearing protective gloves, glasses and laboratory clothing, should be taken when handling the oxide (III) hydroxide. In addition, it should also avoid contact with strong acid or strong base, so as not to cause danger.
